The preservation of the cultural heritage of the region is one of the priorities of the Government of the region. “The individuality of the region, its history, its appearance is the best way to reveal folk crafts and crafts, honed over the centuries, of great cultural significance,” noted the Governor of the region Evgeny Kuyvashev.

In order to create conditions for the popularization of folk arts and crafts, attracting new specialists to the industry, the Center for Tourism Development of the Sverdlovsk Region, with the support of the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Region, is holding a competition.

The competition is held among masters of folk art crafts of the Sverdlovsk region in three categories:

• artistic woodcarving;

• lacquer painting on metal;

• artistic processing of stone.

Exhibition of Professional Excellence Competition  among the masters of folk art crafts

​

24 artists from Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil, Kushva, Turinsk and Asbest take part in the competition. The exhibition will feature Tagil trays, sculptures and mosaics made of Ural stone, original products made of birch bark and objects demonstrating a variety of wood carving techniques.

The competition commission will determine the winners in each nomination. The winners and participants will receive commemorative signs, souvenirs and a catalog of competitive works. The award ceremony will be held following the results of the work of the competition commission in late October - early November 2019.
